Hotel Aashiya Haveli

There were no basic items like shampoo, soap, a comb, or utensils, which would matter especially if you're travelling with a baby. Even the dustbin had no garbage bag. Paint was peeling, and the wooden wardrobe had a musty smell from moisture. There’s no intercom, so asking for something isn't easy, and reception was empty most of the time. I wouldn’t trust the Instagram reels that convinced me to book. The property was below average. The owner quoted ₹4,500 a night, while Goibibo had it for ₹5,200 for two nights. To me, a realistic rate would be ₹1,600-1,800 per night. I also wondered whether some Google reviews saying the rooms were spotless were paid. The owner lives downstairs with his family and runs the property himself. He was nice and cooperative, but I’d strongly suggest hiring a full-time manager and caretaker. At his age, managing everything alone seems unrealistic.

The host was warm and attentive throughout, and made a real effort to make sure things went well. I haven't found a better host. Aashiya Haveli is now my go-to whenever I'm in town, and I'd happily recommend it to friends and family. My room was clean, comfortable, and well kept, so I had a relaxing visit. This may sound like a paid review, but it isn't. I had a wonderful stay.

The location is excellent, right in front of Rainbow restaurant, and the price is very attractive. Some rooms look out over the lake, though the view isn't very clear because the hotel isn't right next to it. Service was the weak point. They claim to have a 24-hour reception, but even during regular hours there was hardly anyone there, let alone early in the morning or late at night. I remembered another review saying guests are given a room and then left to figure things out, and that felt accurate. Some of the boys helping guests seemed uninterested. Even though the service was lousy, they eventually helped. The room had a water heater, but no cups or glasses, tea bags, coffee sachets, soap beyond a small bar, or shampoo. There was no phone either, so you'd have to find a service boy, often with no one around, then try reception and find nobody there too. Breakfast is on the rooftop terrace. One boy was handling the dishes, cooking, serving, and clearing the tables. When I asked about choices, he said it was only aloo paratha or upma. Later I saw poha, bread and butter, and pancakes served to other Indian and foreign guests. It all seemed arbitrary. They did serve other items, though they hadn't initially mentioned them.

The food was delicious, nicely presented, and brought with care. My room was spotless, well maintained, and had all the modern amenities. It was a comfortable and luxurious stay, and I’d highly recommend the hotel. I’m looking forward to coming back.
