Amber House has had a complete makeover under the new proprietors and management staff. The hotel's name has changed from Kiran Palace to Amber House, with a full renovation while its advantages remain intact and things updated wherever needed. It's a newly opened, awesome hotel, so get ready for a whole new Amber Palace experience.

The terrace restaurant on the 4th Floor has a fantastic view of City Palace and Udaipur township. Wi-Fi worked fine in my room, and the AC ran, but none of its adjustment buttons worked. The TV wasn't working during my stay, and the hotel has no lift. The rooms on the 3rd floor only look clean. The bathroom bucket and mug were slippery inside, and the bedside table was oily with fibers and hair. Disgusting! There were large bed bugs, about 0.5cm, hiding around the bed, table, and chair. When I switched on the tube light, two crawled away from the bed. I had to sleep with the bright light on the first night. On the second day, one bit my legs and hands, and I killed three bed bugs. I found another two later. The rooms are very poorly maintained by the people responsible for them. While writing this, a very small unidentified insect bit me too, and I killed it. I'm starting to hate this place. Ufffss.....

The rooftop evening, with the Palace in view, delicious dinner and sufi music, was the highlight of our last bachelor party with my college friends. I had such a great time that I’m planning to come back next February, 2014, and have that experience again. I’m sure it’ll be just as phenomenal. Dubai, Udaipur, it’s time to get ready. Please have hot coffee ready for me, I’ll be there soon.

The rooftop restaurant has a really attractive view of City Palace, and breakfast is included. It’s a very nice, affordable hotel in Meera Park.
