The Leela Palace Udaipur

Nima was fantastic at sorting out all kinds of things, from tuktuks and dinner bookings to sightseeing advice. We loved the grounds and the views of Lake Pichola from the room balcony. The gym, sauna, steam room, and spa were great, and both breakfast and dinner were splendid. The food is definitely worth trying. Leela is a lovely place to stay, unwind, and explore.

Yash from the private butler service was so attentive and caring, and went out of his way to make us comfortable. He was especially sweet with my son and surprised us with a thoughtful gift, which meant a lot. The restaurant manager at Sheesh Mahal also made our meal memorable with his hospitality and attention to detail. Thank you to the whole team at The Leela Palace Udaipur for such a special stay. We’re looking forward to visiting again.

The boat ride to and from the property was enjoyable, and the valet service at the parking area went smoothly. Our butler even came out to the parking area to help us. I only wish we’d known beforehand that parking is in a designated area and the hotel can only be reached by boat. We tried driving there first, and the narrow, congested lanes made that difficult. We enjoyed the complimentary high tea and walking around the property, which is very pram-friendly. The fountains and grounds were kept clean, and the staff were always helpful. At checkout, we shared our feedback and the team was genuinely apologetic. They gave our infant a lovely parting gift: a soft comb made from organic wood, plus incense sticks, a holder, and a 2026 calendar. They also invited us back for a complimentary lunch to make up for dinner. Dinner had a great ambience and view, excellent service, and live instrumental music that really added to the evening, though the food was average. The starters were decent, the veg biryani was good, and the desserts were just okay. Breakfast, by contrast, was excellent. We’d booked dinner in advance. We were welcomed warmly with rose petals, a refreshing drink, and smiles from the staff. Our room was ready right away, and someone showed it to us. We asked about an upgrade and were shown a plunge pool room, but preferred the room we’d originally been given for its beautiful lake view. The balcony view was mesmerising, though the seating and table were dirty with pigeon droppings and should have been cleaned first. The room and bathroom were otherwise comfortable and well maintained. Turndown service was missed, perhaps by oversight.

We felt valued throughout our stay at Udaipur’s Leela Palace, thanks to the care and attention from every staff member. The welcome was warm, genuine, and personal. The views over Lake Pichola and the City Palace were breathtaking, especially at sunset. It felt like an experience in itself, and I highly recommend it.
