Gaurison Hotel&Resort

We had enough parking for my sister's wedding at Gaurison Resort in Ujjain, and the staff handled everything smoothly. They were helpful and polite throughout. The rooms were comfortable, the décor was elegant, and the food at all the functions was top-notch. It's a spacious, clean property, well designed for big events. A memorable venue for weddings and family gatherings, definitely recommended.

The balcony door wouldn't lock, which worried me because anyone could open it from outside. They said they'd upgrade us at check-in, but I agreed to switch to a room without a balcony because of the security concern. I had called ahead to say we'd be late and asked for a clean, ready room, but that was just the start of the problems. I stayed two nights with my family in a family room. The bathroom had no latch and smelled very bad. There were lots of mosquitoes, the linen was damp and unpleasant, and both the windows and towels were dirty. The rooms were very badly maintained. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

I called the front office to ask about reserving a room and spoke with Vikram Surnia. He quoted INR 3000, while the online rate was INR 2528. When I politely asked why there was a difference, he rudely told me to book online instead of explaining. I asked for a senior contact, but he abruptly hung up. I called back three or four times and he wouldn't answer. This left a very negative impression of the hotel's customer service. If that's how they treat people before a booking, I can only imagine what a stay would be like. I hope management takes this seriously and improves how guests are handled.

The food was nice, and the staff were generous and cordial, doing their best to make the stay comfortable. It's just near all mighty Mahakaleshwar Mahadev, too, and I had a very nice, comfortable stay.
