The location is convenient, the pool is fantastic, and the food is superb, especially the kurkuri bhindi. I've been staying at Hotel Imperial Grand once a month for the past three years, and each visit feels like coming home. Ali Ji always makes sure my booking is handled, however busy things are. Sanjay Ji at reception makes check-in seamless, and Vishnu and his brother in the restaurant look after my dining needs. Pappu Gujar is attentive in housekeeping too. Highly recommended!
The location was the one good thing about this place. The daytime reception staff were rude and had no basic courtesy. Our cab was kept from entering the porch by the guard at the main entrance for 20 minutes. Hospitality was nonexistent. The room's bedsheets were dirty, the washroom was unclean and smelled like a public toilet, and the towels were smelly. I nearly puked trying to use the ground-floor common washroom. Room service was extremely slow, taking forever to respond. The breakfast buffet wasn't great, though the food ordered from the restaurant was good. There was zero value for money. I wouldn't have paid even half of what they charged. Absolutely pathetic, probably the worst place I've stayed.
I visit regularly and keep having excellent stays at Hotel Imperial Grand. The team is courteous and professional, and the manager and staff consistently focus on keeping guests happy. The service makes every visit pleasant and easy. It's in a prime area of Ujjain, conveniently close to the railway station. The rooms are neat, clean, and well-maintained, with different price categories available. Even the most affordable rooms are comfortable, clean, and have the amenities needed for a peaceful stay. A well-deserved five stars. I'll keep choosing this hotel when I come to Ujjain.
We reached Imperial Hotel,Ujjain at 5:30pm on 5th March, hoping to leave for Mahakaal ji darshan in 15-20min. Instead, we spent two hours complaining about the room and missed the temple aarti. Staff kept coming to the room, but apart from replacing the landline phone, they couldn't fix anything. Think twice, or even thrice, before booking here. In Room no 105, the TV and landline phone didn't work. Staff said an electrical fault had left the Wi-Fi unavailable and couldn't be resolved for 2 days. The cups and glasses were stained and dirty, and I had to send them back for cleaning. There were no hand towels. We were told only 2 water bottles would be provided, and that asking for more meant getting RO water in already-used plastic bottles. The comforters had yellow stains, especially near the foot end. When staff moved the sofa to make an extra bed, we found used disposable glasses and chips wrappers on the floor, as if it hadn't been wiped for days. The hotel was booked for a wedding on 5th March. We asked for a room where we wouldn't be disturbed, but were given one with loud music coming through. Also, the room couldn't be locked from inside. Anyone could open it from outside with a card, so there was no privacy or safety.
The grounds are quite spacious, with a lawn and backyard for events. The hotel is easily reached from the main road via a service road and fairly close to the city centre. Rooms are reasonable and have amenities, but cleanliness and maintenance could be better, though manageable. Wi-Fi is listed, but it's hard to connect and you'll struggle to use it.
