The temple is only about 150-200 steps away, which makes this a handy place to stay. The rooms are decent and the washrooms just okay, nothing particularly good or bad. The staff really stood out for trying hard to make the stay pleasant. Mr Jaiswal helped with everything from booking the hotel to arranging a cab and an auto for local darshan. Ashish was humble, well spoken, and easy to reach by phone.

Being so close to the Mahakaleshwar temple is the hotel's main plus. The room was only adequate, with broken flooring and door locks that didn't work properly. The sheets hadn't been changed, either. The caretaker said the set-top box and Wi-Fi weren't working because repairs were underway.

The location is awesome, and the staff were very caring. Ashish deserves a special mention for handling so many different tasks. Keep in mind there is no lift, and consider whether the price makes sense for the facilities. They can call an auto for your transportation, so you can decide from there.

The bathroom drainage was the worst part: wastewater came back up through the drain, which is a serious hygiene problem. The flush didn't work, the hanger was broken, and there was heavy crusting and poor cleanliness. The room was badly maintained and not worth the price. Rooms are extremely cramped, barely 10 feet, and the bathroom is tiny, around 4 feet. There's no lift at Hotel Sajan Palace, Ujjain. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The pictures are fake, so don't be fooled. The rooms and bathrooms were dirty and smelly, and the shower didn't work. The people there were money-minded, overly practical, and uncooperative. Worst hotel.
