Hotel Omkaar and Restaurant

We arrived late after a long journey and had no real option but to stay. The room and bathroom were filthy, and it took four or five calls before anyone came to change the sheets and pillows. One staff member said, “That’s just how it is,” about the pillow. It was completely flat and looked like it had never been washed, and the sheets and quilts seemed just as bad. We somehow got some sleep, then guests in the room next door started playing very loud music and dancing at 2 AM. The staff didn’t step in. At 4:30 AM, hotel workers began moving materials around and making more noise. We had to leave early and couldn’t get a peaceful night’s rest. Smelly rooms and a terrible experience. No one should stay here.

The hotel is right beside the Bhagirathi river, and our stay for the Gangotri trip was peaceful and pleasant. Service was very good, and the room prices were affordable.

The restaurant was great. I had the thali and really enjoyed it. The hotel itself was smelly and noisy, though, and I was initially quoted a lot more than the room seemed worth because I’m foreign. I also think something in my bed was making noises through the night. It’s a shame the hotel and restaurant are listed together.

The rooms were very dirty and unhygienic, and the staff were unresponsive. Trucks were being unloaded right beside the rooms at night, which was really irritating and kept me from sleeping.
