Hotel Gokul Grand

I booked this hotel through Make My Trip for my parents and their friends family, from 26 Dec 2025 to 1st Jan 2026. The owner refused the booking when they arrived and put them in another property instead. It was in very poor and unhygienic condition, and I attached photos of it for the review. He kept asking my father to cancel and take a refund. My parents checked out of that property yesterday. Today the owner called to ask why I had given the hotel a 1 star review on MMT, saying he let my parents stay there and I still left a bad review. I paid in advance and still faced this harassment. He has been messaging me on WhatsApp, telling me to talk to him and close the matter or there will be consequences. I’m a prime member of Make My trip, and facing this kind of harassment is horrible.

The location was really convenient, especially for seeing the city and nearby temples. At Hotel Gokul Grand, Varanasi, the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the staff were extremely polite and helpful. Service and hospitality made the whole experience excellent. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Varanasi and look forward to staying again.

We were driving to Kashi and needed parking, so I found this hotel on Google. A double bedroom for two was confirmed at INR 2000, or INR 2500 for three people with a mattress, for three nights. I confirmed a month ahead and paid INR 2000. On travel day, I called to say we’d arrive in the evening. The owner then said he couldn’t give us rooms that night and blamed us for not calling the day before to remind him he had taken the booking money. We insisted he arrange an alternative because he had forgotten our booking. He found us a hotel 500 meters away for that night, and said Hotel Gokul Grand was listed on Make My Trip, Booking.com, and other sites. He takes bookings from all of them without caring about overlaps, then gives rooms to whoever pays the most and turns the others away. The alternative was Hotel Hari Kripa, with very small, poorly maintained rooms. Check-in at Gokul Grand was set for 12 PM the next day. We arrived at 1 PM and the rooms still weren’t ready. There was only one person cleaning. We were exhausted, but we cleaned one room ourselves while that staff member handled the other. The rooms have balconies, but staff didn’t clean them despite repeated requests. Small mice roamed around and damaged our clothes. There isn’t room for an extra mattress, so don’t book one room for three people. When we asked the owner to compensate us for the trouble and damage, he mocked us and threatened us. My experience was very bad. Definitely not a recommended stay in Kashi.

We had a booking from 29th to 1st but couldn’t go because of an unfortunate mishap. The hotel owner was understanding and helped get the cancellation approved through Goibibo. I really appreciate the empathy and humanity they showed. It’s rare and reassuring to receive that kind of kindness. Much respect for the team at Hotel Gokul Grand.
