The service and the state of the hotel fell short of what I expected. We had paid for four nights, but after two we were told to shift rooms, which was a real hassle. At check-in, we had said we wanted to stay until the evening on our departure day, and the manager said that was fine. Still, at checkout they charged us for late checkout, even though we left during the day. Nobody called or knocked to remind us about checkout time, and we weren't given any information. The room was dirty, with cigarette burns on the bed linen and mice running around. The hot water was barely warm, and since the shower didn't work, we had to wash using the tap. Other guests were very noisy, getting drunk and shouting during the day, which made the atmosphere unpleasant.

The old building was full of mosquitoes, the bed wasn't proper, and the room smelled bad. The room itself was in very poor condition, and the staff were the worst.

The building is very old and hasn't been repaired. The rooms, beds, mattresses, and sheets were in terrible shape. Cockroaches were in the washroom and even came onto the bed while I was sleeping. The approach is a muddy street only 3 to 4 feet wide, with stray dogs and their droppings. Vehicles can't get there, and there was no staff or service. To find an auto or taxi for Banaras railway station, you have to walk 1.5 km. Never book online.

I hadn't seen good reviews, but after checking in I found it was a very nice stay. The room had a view of the Ganga, and Kashi Vishwanath temple was within five minutes. The 150-year-old property was well equipped with all kinds of facilities.

The room smelled bad, hygiene wasn't properly maintained, and the staff service wasn't up to standard. It's also a difficult place to reach with a lot of luggage: you have to walk over 1 km from Church Square, with no cab or auto route. On the plus side, it is a more than 100-year-old building, and Kashi Vishwanath Corridor is within walking distance. Rooms start at ₹750 per day, so the price is low.
