Harischandra ghat is very close, as are Shankara mutt and Madhva Achar's residence, where srardham can be performed. There's also a chettiar shop nearby, and it's a good place for South Indian food. Despite the name Hotel Tamilnadu, it's otherwise a North India hotel.

The rooms and service were good. They don't have a kitchen, though. 4 star.

The staff are good and the service is nice, and the place is close to temples and ghats. But it's down a small, hard-to-reach lane with bad surroundings. The toilet is badly designed, and there's no attached restaurant.

It's cheap and good, with lots of restaurants just a 3 mts walk away. There is no room service, but Harish Chandra Ghat is very near and Ganga ji is within walking distance.

After visiting the historic sites nearby, it was comfortable to come back to a clean, tidy room. The staff were courteous and accommodating, so the stay was hassle-free. We had a wonderful time at Hotel Tamilanadu on Harishchandr Road, Varanasi, and recommend it for a pleasant stay in the city's cultural hub.
