Hotel Sahu Near Kashi Vishwanath Temple Gate

I got a 2 Double Bed Deluxe Room, and it was clean, hygienic, and had a great vibe. This was a very good personal experience. The hotel is nearest to Dashshwamegh Ghat and very close to Godowlia and Nandi Chowk. Must visit, highly recommend.

The location is excellent, near Dashaswmedh Ghat and Godhulia Chowraha, and parking and a lift are available. Staff were welcoming and behaved well. But the rooms didn't impress me. In Varanasi, properties around Godhulia Chowraha can look good outside but be just as bad inside, and here the lobby, reception, and building looked good while the room fell short. We booked a Premium city-view room for 3 days, but they treated a Normal room as premium. The bathroom was small and not enough. Breakfast was included, but don't expect it before 10:30 - 11:00. They don't have their own restaurant, just a tie-up with one in the same building. Room service was only provided before check-in, despite our 3-day booking. Checkout was at 11:00 A.M, yet they started calling from 09:00 AM every 10 - 15 minutes, which was seriously the worst. They provided only 01 slice of soap for all 3 days, no other toiletries, and just 01 towel for 02 people for the whole stay. The hotel team didn't even provide a glass of water. When we asked for 02 water bottles in the room, the hotel person asked for tips 😞. At most, I'd give it 3 ⭐ out of 5 ✨.

I had paid an advance and had a fully confirmed Hotel Sahu booking through Booking.com, made almost 2 months ahead for 24th & 25th December. At the last possible moment, the hotel called to push me to Hotel Shanidhyam instead. I refused because I'd booked Hotel Sahu, not a substitute of their choosing. Then, on 24th December, the day I was due to check in, they cancelled the booking themselves and refunded the advance. That left me stranded during peak season in Varanasi. Hotels were full and prices were sky-high, which put me in a very stressful and helpless situation and ruined our travel plans. This was irresponsible and unethical, and felt borderline fraudulent. Taking bookings months ahead, then cancelling on arrival day for their own convenience, is cheating guests. They showed no respect for confirmed reservations, accountability, or professionalism. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, don't book here. They may cancel a confirmed stay, push you toward another hotel, and can't be relied on. Hotel Sahu shouldn't be allowed on Booking.com if this is how they treat guests. Strongly not recommended. Avoid at all costs.

The hotel's location was the only good part of our stay. The room first given to us was filthy, with damp walls, peeling paint and wall covering, and poor hygiene. It was very small, and the washroom was even smaller and dirty. Its tap kept leaking and wouldn't stop. We asked to change rooms, but staff rudely said, “this is the best you will get for the price you booked”. That felt especially unprofessional because the online photos looked much better. The replacement room wasn't any better: the floor was dirty and the washroom still wasn't clean. Staff behavior also made us uncomfortable. We were going out to a wedding with some of our luggage when they asked us to leave the room key at reception. We refused because we had valuables inside, but staff insisted it was “the rule” whenever we went out. At checkout, reception asked staff to inspect our room because we'd made several complaints, which felt unnecessary and unpleasant. Other than the location, cleanliness, the room itself, and staff behavior were very poor. The hotel doesn't match its online pictures, and I wouldn't recommend it unless it makes major improvements.
