The garden and location are nice, and it's quiet enough. This guesthouse has a lot of potential, but the rooms are average, not very clean, and some bathroom bits are broken. Staff were the worst part. The owner wasn't particularly friendly or kind, and Chotu bhaiya was far ruder and less mannered than anyone I can remember meeting. He was constantly lazy and grumpy, never smiled, and mostly said no to requests. Once, he even kicked us out of reception because he was taking a nap. It's unbelievable behavior, especially from a cook, and makes you wonder what kind of energy goes into the food. 😬 It makes you never want to return. One more thing, don't plug electronics into the room sockets. They're so old they will most likely ruin your device.

The garden at Singh Guest House was nicely kept, and the place is close to both the ghat and the main road. It felt peaceful inside, away from the city chaos. The room was okay for the price, and food was available from breakfast through dinner. A memorable stay in Varanasi.

A calm little place to recharge. The rooms were clean and looked after, and the staff were genuinely kind and helpful. I especially liked the lovely garden, with spots to sit and unwind. A really pleasant stay, and I’d recommend it to tired travelers.

I couldn’t relax in the room because construction noise went on during the day. The host was rude and arrogant, and never told me the gates closed at 11 p.m. When I wanted to go for a walk, he said I’d have to check out in the morning if I did. Disgusting treatment of guests. I don’t recommend staying here.

The rooms are very basic, but they were clean, and the price was right. The staff were super kind, the neighborhood was quiet, and the garden was wonderful. It’s also only a two-minute walk from the Ganges. The outside had just been freshly painted when I arrived. This has been my best stay in India so far, and I’m not sure why there are so many negative reviews. The gate does close at 11, though I saw someone in a neighboring room ask for a little extra time and get it. If you need a later curfew, I’m sure there are lots of other places around.
