I recommend this hotel for a safe, enjoyable visit. It's run by the Varanasi-born Pandey brothers, who know the city from birth, so it's a great choice for anyone wanting to explore it from the ground up. Varanasi's history is beyond our imagination, and the owners are committed to their service.

Chandra paying guest house is in a special spot in Varanasi, where ma ganga enters the city. The ganga water is clean here. The service and everything else are decent too.

The food here was delicious and very cheap, with plenty of options, and the service was always super friendly. The other staff deserve praise too. Since taxis couldn't reach the hotel, they carried my luggage on their backs and walked for up to half an hour to bring it to the hotel, always smiling. The doorman was super friendly as well, smiling and giving me a gentle nod whenever he saw me, without asking for a tip. I tipped him at the end of my stay, and they were very happy because they earn so little. I had one of my best stays in India at Chandra Paying Guesthouse during my last week touring Varanasi. It was right on the Ganga, and from my room terrace I could see for a few kilometers in good visibility. If I return to Varanasi, I'll definitely stay here again.

I first visited on 31st December and was very disappointed by how the owner and staff treated me after I booked online. They rarely seem to accept online bookings, and I faced that problem myself. That's why I gave one star. I don't know what facilities they actually provide.
