The room was cramped, and the bathroom was even tighter. There was no ventilation, so moisture and odors lingered, making it uncomfortable to use. Housekeeping was a letdown too: we asked for extra towels but still hadn’t received them the next day. The stay fell short on basic comfort and service, and overall it was average to disappointing.

A safe, comfortable, affordable stay, and couple friendly. Expect one single room with an attached washroom. You can book by calling instead of using websites. Half the payment is made at booking, with the rest due before check-in.

They required payment before check-in even though the booking.com terms and conditions didn’t call for it. When I refused, they said they had cancelled my booking but left it active on booking.com. This property is completely unreliable, and I strongly advise against booking it.

Gouri's Homestay was peaceful, and we had a lovely stay. The hosts were very helpful, and our room was clean, neat, and gave us plenty of privacy. Varkala cliff and the beach were easy to reach, with restaurants and the town nearby.
