MN Homestay

We booked two apartments at this homestay for our December trip to varkala. Each has a hall, bedroom, and kitchen, and the bedroom is enough for two or three people. The rooms are good and have AC, though the cost is a little high. Varkala cliff beach is within walking distance.

The homemade breakfasts were delicious, and we felt completely at home. Our hosts were warm and welcoming, and the room was both clean and comfortable. The location worked perfectly for exploring the local area. We had an incredible stay at MN Home Stay and would highly recommend it for a special, memorable experience.

The bathroom and bedroom both smelled of sewage. The bathroom didn’t look well maintained or clean, and there was a lot of sand along the side that could easily have been rinsed away. Its exhaust fan didn’t work properly, so we had to leave the window open and mosquitoes could get into the room. There was no soap either. Normally I might not mind, but after the owner’s behaviour, I felt they should have put some out without being asked. We had originally booked three days, but after seeing the bathroom we considered moving and told the owner we might stay only one night. He became very aggressive and insisted we had said three days. We had, but the photos also promised a clean place, which this wasn’t, so wanting to cancel the other two nights seemed reasonable. On Booking website and Airbnb, if a place isn’t as clean as expected, you will get refund. The owner’s aggression scared me, so we paid for all three days and put up with it. I didn’t appreciate his behaviour. I wouldn’t recommend this unless you’re okay with a smelly bathroom and bedroom.

A really good stay for us. The AC rooms were clean, the beach was hardly 100m away, and we could arrive at night without any time restriction.
