Poppys Anukula Residency - Vellore

While we were staying here on our trip to Vellore, we had a small AC issue caused by an overload. The staff took responsibility and offered to move us to another room so we wouldn't be inconvenienced. They were humble and helpful, and the service was quick and excellent.

Breakfast was the one saving grace, it was great. The rest of the check-in experience was annoying. I'd expected a good hotel from the Google and MMT reviews, but the room didn't match the photos. The TV had no STB, hot water didn't come for 30 to 40 minutes despite repeated requests, the kettle cable was missing, and there was no bucket or mug in the bathroom. Those things arrived later, but the bucket and mug took three hours. Why wasn't the room ready before check-in? We weren't staying for free. The room boys looked for tips each time they brought something, and the two guards did too.

We had a pleasant two-night stay in clean, well-maintained rooms. Getting warm water for bathing was a bit of a challenge at times, but otherwise it was a great experience.

The location near the new bus stand made getting to the hotel easy and quick. Rooms were clean, service was good, and both breakfast and restaurant food were good. A couple of things could be better compared with nearby hotels: at this room price, paid TV channels would help keep longer-stay guests entertained, since the free channels aren't good. WiFi was very slow, with downloads maxing out at 4mbps and uploads at 6mpbs, making it hard to work from the room. Still, my stay was excellent overall.
