Hotel Southern Grand

I stayed at The Southern Grand Hotel, Vijayawada for an official visit from 7th November 2025 to 11th November 2025. At checkout, they charged ₹800 for a small pomegranate juice stain on the bedsheet. I consider that part of ordinary housekeeping, and the amount felt excessive. I had asked for a six-hour late checkout and agreed to pay extra for those hours, but they charged the full 24-hour room rate of ₹5,500. The staff were rude and unhelpful, and I found the charges unfair. I won't recommend the hotel. I hope management reviews its policies and treats guests more fairly.

The location near the railway station was convenient, and the room was good. They left two small bottles of RO water instead of mineral water, and there were no basic toiletries. I wouldn't choose the MAP plan: the options were very limited, and dinner was a bad experience. There also seemed to be poor communication among staff, since I was initially charged for my MAP stay, though they later resolved it. Breakfast had few choices but was good. Average overall, and I won't stay here again.

We paid around Rs. 1600 online for one night with breakfast while passing through. The hotel is in narrow lanes, so parking is a downside, though we did get basement parking. Breakfast was okay but could be better. For the price, it's a decent budget choice, with basic room amenities, an in-house restaurant, and reasonable food prices. Recommended if you want to stay in the city and can manage the narrow lanes.

Don't be taken in by how the building looks from outside or by the good reviews. The rooms smelled awful, the handwash sink was broken, and the bed was stained and covered in hair. The receptionist, an older man, was rude to customers and even the other woman at reception. He lied, ignored questions, and wouldn't address customer concerns. Breakfast wasn't good either, the idly was a day old and the vada was old too. I didn't try the other food because it didn't look worth trying. A really bad stay, and the hotel people need to understand hygiene.
