Abhaya Grand Hotels

Room 211 was filthy, with dust in the corners, inside the cupboard, and on the table. The towels were so bad I wouldn’t use them on my face or body, or even as floor mats. For about 2625 for one day, that level of upkeep was disgusting. The mattress was another major problem. It was a spring mattress that sagged so much I nearly sank to the bottom when I lay down. Around midnight I called reception to ask for another mattress to put on the floor. The small washroom also needed better cleaning, and its size didn’t feel appropriate for the price. When I visited in the last week of Dec 2025, the hotel was under renovation and the corridor flooring was damaged. The room was stained and had a truly awful smell. They sprayed a cheap jasmine-scented freshener over it, which made it worse, and I couldn’t breathe comfortably. Opening the windows let in mosquitoes, so I was stuck with the smell. The lighting was poor too. Of the four ceiling lights, two were white and the other two were half-white, which made the room look terrible. There are plenty of things here that could be fixed, but it seemed like no one had tried. Maybe being right opposite the RTC complex and having a steady stream of guests has made them complacent. Either way, this needs to change.

The hotel feels old and badly in need of renovation, and the view from my room wasn’t good. Still, the room itself was clean, the toilet was clean and dry, and the AC worked well. The mattress was on the soft side. Check-in was quick, and I was given two bottles of water, soap, shampoo, a towel, a toothbrush, and toothpaste. The location is very convenient, directly opposite the Visakhapatnam bus stand and just 2 kilometers from the railway station. Food and soft drinks are available inside the hotel.

There’s nothing “Grand” about this place. The room was dirty, the toilets smelled awful, and the basic amenities were disappointing. Staff were rude and unprofessional, and the restaurant was closed, so we had to order food from outside. We gave staff water bottles and cool drinks we’d bought ourselves to keep in the fridge. Later, they demanded payment for those same items. That was completely unacceptable. The location was hard to find, and with the parking full we had to leave the car outside. Poorly managed, unhygienic, and not worth the money. Don’t stay here.

We were here for two nights, and the rooms were the worst. The toilet stank, the AC was awful, and there was fungus all over the room. The bedsheets and pillow covers were dirty too. They charge quite a lot, but there’s no kettle or coffee maker in the room, and no tea available. Staff weren’t helpful, and we had to keep following up just to get a water bottle. We weren’t even allowed to check out an hour later. It’s right in the center of Square, in front of the bus depot, but the traffic noise is disturbing. I wouldn’t recommend staying here or telling anyone else to.
