Private Scandinavian Apartment

There are a few restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance if you don’t mind a bit of a walk, and parking is convenient. It’s also an easy drive to some natural attractions. The views are amazing, and it’s a great place for a group.

A lovely little house, but there’s just one closet, so you may need to share it.

The apartment is roomy, the beds are fine, and the kitchen gives you space to cook. The mountain view and location are excellent, but the place badly needs maintenance. There was a hole in the toilet door, and the toilet seat was crooked and didn’t fit properly. The shower head is awkwardly positioned, so it’s hard to stand underneath it. Some previous guests seem to have thought it adjusted, but the plugs were pulled halfway out of the wall. The worst issue was the rotten egg smell from the hot water, including when showering. The water is highly sulfurous. We didn’t encounter that anywhere else during our two weeks of travel. Maybe they use heat exchangers or a boiler elsewhere, but I have no idea. Wi-Fi speed was moderate to poor.

The living room has a beautiful view, and the owner was working in the garden when we arrived. He was very kind and helpful. There was also some food in the kitchen that we could use as we liked. The apartment is very large, with a satisfactory, well equipped kitchen and a washer-dryer. I got an email on the morning of arrival with entry instructions and details about payment. The apartment is unlocked when the tenant arrives, which felt incredible. Payment has to be in cash, and euros, Icelandic krona, or dollars are accepted. It’s on a street, at street level. The general cleanliness, bed linen, and slightly dated bathroom were adequate. I couldn’t find keys to lock the front door, though that may be normal in those parts. Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is by 10:00 AM. The TV has an Italian channel.
