JESSSUUUUUUS CHRIST! The first dome they gave us didn’t even have lights. After what felt like an hour, someone came to check the so-called “fuses in the electricity box in the toilet” and then just walked off without a word. What the hell? They moved us to dome 4, which seemed like a saving grace, but no. It was bigger, yet the toilet lights and heater wouldn’t turn on. It took another 50 million text messages to get someone over. Now they’re off again! Poor service lady. Do a better job. This was meant to be a cool, fun trip to see the aurora. Jesus!

I can only speak for myself, since the reviews are really mixed. We didn’t pay anywhere near high season prices, so bear that in mind. Dome #1 was as advertised. The floors could use some work, but beyond that I don’t see what other people complained about.

The dome is a fun concept and looks amazing. It has great beds and all the facilities we needed, including a fully equipped kitchen with fancy equipment. We cooked our own meals, which was great. The bed with the sky view was especially cool. Snow overnight gave us a completely different view in the morning, too. It was a special stay, though not worth 450€ a night with the maintenance issues. If the property isn’t maintained, 250-350€ would have been more appropriate. The booking communication was poor when we booked through their website. We got one confirmation with the date and price, then no explanation at all. A standard email after they charged the card would have saved me a lot of anxiety. I emailed, messaged, and called, and finally spoke with Klaudia the day before our stay. She sent the information right after we talked, and I’m thankful to her for that. I suspect communication might be better through Booking.com, since the reviews there are very good. The floorboards were in very bad shape, and the fence outside had missing planks with nails sticking out. The front curtains wouldn’t stay closed on all sides, letting light in, and the entry door had no curtain or privacy stickers. People walking past, or those living across the way, could see you coming naked from the bathroom. We covered the door with a blanket. There were apartments, or some other building, on the right when looking out, so we had to close the curtains on that side and lost half the view from the bed. During a snowy, windy night, the wind got inside and moved the curtains. Insulation or construction material was sticking out in places. The front window had some tears patched with special tape, which I understand may be hard to replace.

The host was friendly and helpful, and everything was well organised. Our dome exceeded expectations: clean, warm, and nicely designed, cosy but modern. It’s a bit of a splurge, though totally worth it. I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the Golden Circle! 👍🏼

The best thing was how easily I could step outside. I’d go from lying in bed to looking at the full sky in just a few minutes. You can uncover the ceiling with a magnetic stick, which was handy since I’m too short to reach it. There are two beds to choose from, one on the ground and one in the loft. It felt luxurious, with heated floors and a dome that was surprisingly warm. A few cracks let cold air in, but it didn’t affect my sleep. I only noticed them while standing by the door for hours waiting for the aurora. We didn’t need to use the fireplace. The kitchen was basically full, and the bathroom was gorgeous. Some floorboards were uneven, and plastic repairs with tape were visible in spots. Still, that was overshadowed by the experience of seeing a clear Icelandic night. I loved the place.
