We had great views of the distant mountains and farmland, and the whole place was quiet and comfortable. This was our favorite stay during our 16-day trip through Iceland, and we’ll definitely return. The three small barrel houses sit on a farm about 15 minutes outside Selfoss. Each tiny home was clean, well kept and romantic, with two twin beds, a bathroom, a small entryway with some storage, and a little fridge. The owners keep the hot tub just outside the left-most house filled with natural geothermal water, and you can use it anytime as long as you’re quiet for the other guests. All three cabins share a small shower room, and there’s a fairly large kitchen and dining building stocked with cookware and utensils. Oh my god, this place! This is it. You’ve arrived.

The fast WiFi was probably quicker than what I have at home, and the location is great if you’re on the ring road. The family-run place has cute, friendly, rambunctious dogs, and I’d happily stay again if I get the chance. I’m picky about cleanliness and can’t stand dirty places, so I especially appreciated how clean everything was, from the room to the shared shower and kitchen. The decor is cozy and cute, and the room has its own private bathroom. I feel good about supporting this business and would recommend it.

The little cottage had everything we could think of needing, and we loved using the hot tub whenever we wanted. The dogs greeted us with cuddles and balls ready for us to throw. The owners were very kind. It’s a beautiful property, though a bit removed from everything. It would be a perfect spot to watch the northern lights, though we were unlucky and didn’t see them.

The hostess was so forthcoming that she offered a refund when we decided at the last minute to cancel because of the weather. She’d warned us about the conditions, and we didn’t want to get stuck in the middle of nowhere with a flight to catch. We hadn’t expected a refund, and we’re hoping to come back and stay overnight for real. The location is beautiful and a little out of the way. The camping pod was cozy, with a tiny but somehow spacious toilet. The shower, hot tub and kitchen are shared, and all were pretty neat. Best hostess ever.

A comfortable guesthouse in a fascinating location, with friendly dogs!
