Hotel Vos

The quiet setting and minimal light pollution made it a very good place to watch for aurora, and there are Icelandic horses around too 🤭. The atmosphere at Hotel Vos was lovely. The lively, helpful staff made us feel warm and welcome despite the cold. Our room was a decent size and had everything we needed. They even had lotion, which hotel rooms don’t usually supply. Not sure if they’ll keep providing it, but they had some during my stay. There were two big tubs in the middle, but we skipped the hot tub because it was too cold to take our clothes off 😂.

A handy base for exploring the area, and good value for money. We were here for two nights with our older teenage kids, split across two rooms. Everything was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the shower rooms were great. We also enjoyed the hot tub and the very good breakfast. There’s a communal lounge with complimentary hot drinks.

Nice-looking rooms, and having private bathrooms was a welcome surprise. But it was really cold inside, and the walls between rooms seemed thin enough that we could hear a neighbor cough. The place may not be very well insulated. We got up late and found breakfast had already closed.

The hotel is quite isolated, though still only a few kilometers from the nearest town. Our rooms and bathrooms were spacious and comfortable, and the place was very clean. The soundproofing could use improvement. Breakfast was included, which is a nice bonus in Iceland, even if there wasn’t much variety. We arrived late in pretty bad weather, so we didn’t get to see or try the jacuzzi.
