Stracta Hotel

The staff were lovely and really accommodating. Our daughter’s pull-out bed was much more comfortable than the ones we’d had at other places, and we had a great stay at Stracta. We’d looked through all the booking photos before choosing it, so the chalet style rooms weren’t a surprise. The only downside was the cramped shower, where the two doors didn’t work very well.

We spent 2 nights at Stracta hotel in summer. The room itself was a standard size, but a squeeze for 3 people, probably fine for 2. Ours was outside with no shelter, which made things a hassle when it rained. We didn’t get to try the hot tub because it was full of patrons. Don’t forget the complimentary drinks, cheers!

The breakfast was passable, and there were beds, pillows, blankets and heating, which is why I’m giving it 2 stars. But this was easily our worst hotel experience during 12 days in Iceland. Our 2 bedroom apartment smelled so strongly of mildew that we had to sleep with the windows open. The furnishings were uncomfortable, the sheets felt rough, and the TV was prehistoric. Do yourself a favor and stay in Selfoss or Vik instead.

We stayed with family at Stracta Hotel in Hella Iceland. I had a superior designated room with a double bed, plenty of space, a modern updated bathroom, and a good-sized open closet. Extra pillows and blankets were there too, and the room was clean. Breakfast was included and had a fair amount of variety beyond the usual cereals and breads. We also had lunch one day at the hotel’s main-floor bistro, and the food was surprisingly good. The hotel and restaurant staff were both friendly and helpful. For what we paid, it felt like great value for Iceland and a good experience. I’d recommend staying here if you find yourself in Hella Iceland.
