Granastaðir Guesthouse

The waterfall behind the guesthouse made such a lovely sound at night, and the surroundings were beautiful. The rooms feel very cozy, with lots of care put into the details, and they've been newly made. The owner welcomed us warmly and was really friendly. There's a clean, pleasant shared kitchen, plus a small kitchen area in each room. Easily the best place we stayed in Iceland. Granastadir is definitely somewhere to stay 🥰.

From our bedroom we could see the waterfall, and the northern lights were visible too when we visited on Sep1. The guest house is only 7 kms off route 1, and the detour was well worth it. Our room and bathroom were so clean and neat they made us say wow. The beds were very comfortable, and the common kitchen had all the amenities. We stayed for one night and would've gladly stayed longer.

We found the place beautiful and relaxing, and being between Husavik and Akureyri made both locations easy to reach. There are other attractions around the area as well. We booked at short notice and were able to add another night. If you want time to explore the region and come back somewhere peaceful to unwind, I'd stay more than a few nights.

The waterfalls and mountains are right there, and the setting is breathtaking. Our room was lovely, clean, and warm. I'd read that it could be cold, but that seems to have changed, as we actually slept with the window open. The hostess was kind and gave us great trip tips. Hard to imagine a better stay.
