The beds were surprisingly plush and comfortable, even the top bunk, which worked fine for me as a tall guy. We also had a bit of a struggle getting the hot tub figured out, but the water ran from scalding to very hot, and having a geothermal tub at all was a real bonus. The cabin has a classic antique look, with dark wood throughout, and felt a little tighter than the other cabin we stayed in on this trip. Neither thing bothered us. It’s in a fairly central spot, about an hour from Reykjavik, and makes a handy starting point for heading south or into the highlands. Just keep the shower’s sulfur smell contained, since without good ventilation it spreads through the cabin.

These cottages feel warm and homey, just right for a rest in the land of fire and ice. The hot tub is something else, filled fresh from the sulphur springs. We had a small problem with it, but they sorted it out within an hour. Fantastic!

The property was really clean and well cared for, and the hot tub was a lovely bonus in below-zero weather. We had a wonderful stay, with a great location for touring the Golden Circle.

The location is amazing, and with some care this place could be great. As it is, though, the house was dirty, with old food underneath the sofa, and definitely too cramped for eight people. There may be eight beds, but everything else feels much too small. The equipment was old, heavily used, and worn out. It also felt overpriced and poorly maintained. Our barbecue caught fire because of what seemed to be a gas leak. It was frightening, and afterward we were afraid to use it.

The beds were soft and comfortable, with nice pillows and linen, and Jon was a fantastic, helpful host. Gulfoss and the Geisers are easy to reach from this spot on the edge of the Golden Circle, about 40 minutes from Reykjavik. We loved it and would come back in a heartbeat.
