Guesthouse Isafjordur Gamla

I’ve been to Iceland ten times, and I enjoyed staying at Gamla Guesthouse. It’s quiet, clean and comfortable, with hot showers, and you can walk to everything you need. Breakfast is included at the Isafjordur Hotel, a few minutes away. I’d definitely book here again.

We only spent one night in Ísafjordur, and this was a lovely spot, a couple of blocks back from the main shops and places to eat. The old house is cute and quaint, and the accommodation was perfectly satisfactory. We liked having sitting rooms tucked into different corners, plus a kitchen downstairs and plenty of good WiFi. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the shared bathrooms were fine. Check-in and breakfast were both at Hotel Logn, just down the road, and check-in was easy. It’s an older home, so the stairs creak and the doors don’t close quietly, but that wasn’t a big deal.

We really enjoyed the stay. The guesthouse is a cool old place right in the heart of Isafjordur, and the rooms and shared bathroom were clean and tidy. There was one shared bathroom for every two bedrooms. We checked in a few blocks down the street, at the hotel where a very good free breakfast was served. Going there also gave us a chance to see the city.

I can’t say anything about the rooms because I had to cancel my booking on the day due to a cancelled flight. Even though that was outside the agreed conditions, they refunded my money after I explained what happened. The bit of service I experienced was excellent.
