Guesthouse Nyp

We could see the northern lights right from our bedroom windows, and the location is beautiful. Hubert and Caroline were wonderful hosts, and the food they made was really satisfying. The salads came from their greenhouse. Our room was tidy, clean, and very comfortable. I’d love to come back. An absolutely amazing experience, thank you so much!

Dinner and breakfast were the best meals of our Iceland trip so far, generously and lovingly prepared by the hosts. You do need to order them in advance. Guesthouse Nyp sits in a beautiful, isolated spot, with mountains behind it overlooking the ocean. Marked trails lead to the water, a river, and up the mountain. The rooms are gorgeous and minimalist, and the beds are comfy, with oversized individual comforters. We loved staying here and will recommend it to everyone we know as a must-stay on their next Iceland trip.

We were very grateful for how helpful the hosts were. My wife and I arrived at about 8:30 pm, and only then realized that the bathroom was too hard for her to access because of her mobility issues. I’d booked a room with a shared bath and hadn’t thought about the stairs to the toilet. The host sent us to a nearby hotel with easier toilet access, and there was no extra charge. The place looked very nice and had a superb scenic view.

One of my favourite places in Iceland. The guesthouse is a special place to experience, with incredible hosts and warm Icelandic hospitality. The calm, thoughtful, artistic spaces make it easy to connect more directly with the landscape around you.
