The rural setting is handy for seeing the Northern Lights, and they can cook dinner if you order ahead. We ate in Vik both nights before driving back, though it does take a while to get anywhere from here. Inside, the hotel was clean and cute, and the showerhead was the best of the four hotels we stayed at in Iceland. It's a funny little detail, but it mattered! The outside doesn't look like much, more like a metal building out in the middle of nowhere. But the service and breakfast were the best we had during our week in Iceland. This was the only place with bacon, scrambled eggs, beans, and waffles. The other hotels mostly had cold cuts, cheese, bread, and pastries, which were fine, but I was happy to find more protein options at Hotel Selja. We had an early start at 6:30 the morning after check-in, before breakfast began at 8. The woman at the desk put together a full takeaway breakfast with sandwich supplies, yogurt, and muffins so we wouldn't miss out. I'd definitely recommend the hotel if you don't mind staying outside town.

The outside is a bit misleading, and there are no hot tubs, which makes sense in such a windy area. Inside, though, the rooms were very clean and the beds were good. The hosts were lovely, and the food was amazing. Dinner gets 8/10, the coffee was good, and breakfast was fantastic at 10/10. The date cake changed how I'll look at cake forever, 12/10. An amazing stay, 9.5/10. You'd be missing out if you didn't come.

The building's first impression as you drive up doesn't do the inside justice. The rooms were clean, the accommodation was really nice, and the price was reasonable. Breakfast was very good, especially the coffee, though they ran out and had trouble getting it refilled.

We spent two nights there in September 24 and had only good things to say. The rooms were well kept and nicely furnished, with a pleasant bathroom. The breakfast was the best we've had, even compared with various higher-class hotels we've stayed in. Don't let the first impression from the parking lot put you off, going inside is well worth it.
