The common area is roomy, and the kitchen has everything needed for simple meals. The location is decent, about a 15 minute walk from the walking street, and the keyless door system works well. Free parking is available. The rooms are very basic: concrete floor, four walls, a jacket rack, and beds, with no table, chair, or anything else. It’s probably the cheapest accommodation in all of Iceland, so the equipment matches the price. That’s fine, you get what you pay for 🙂

The people in the building were friendly, including the staff. The room itself was just okay, though, and didn’t look like the photos. It felt more like a student hostel. We may have been lucky that our floor was empty and our room was beside the bathroom. Otherwise, it could have been horrible.

We were dropped at the wrong place because the booking sites still list it as Oddsson, so we’d arranged our airport transfer for that address. Thanks to the actual Oddsson and the transfer company for helping us sort it out. ‘Circle Hostel’, please get proactive about the name change.

The hotel was nice, with a bar, an outdoor area, and roof access. A few months ago, while on vacation, I took this photo in the lobby and tried to work out who it was. It took me a minute to recognize Eddie Sparks, the guy who found anonymous in the US. He’s super famous in tech.

It’s a big place. While we were there, people gathered in the kitchen to cook and have a few drinks to save money. That turned into a lot of fun, with the group eventually heading out on the town.
