The two managers were lovely and so welcoming. We had a really enjoyable three-night stay at Phoenix Hotel. The spacious rooms were very clean, and the beds were comfortable. There was a small kettle for making tea and coffee, and each night they turned down the beds and left a chocolate on the pillows, a lovely touch. Breakfast was good too.

The owners were always happy to offer local tips or directions, and the service was excellent. Everything is within walking distance from this very central spot in Reykjavik. Our room was very clean, and breakfast kept us going for a good part of the day. I'd definitely recommend staying here.
We found it so easy to get around from here. The main street is a five-minute walk, and we could walk to the BSI terminal and tour bus terminal in about 20 minutes. Our tour bus dropped us at bus stop 9 on the way back each time, also just a five-minute walk. All the main sights in rekyjavik were easy to reach on foot, and we even walked to the sky lagoon. The local bus stops are five minutes away too, so it's really well placed. The two guys running the hotel were lovely and always full of useful tips when we asked. The bed was soft and comfy like sleeping on a cloud, and the room was warm without the radiators, though we used them to dry our clothes after a really rainy day. Everything we needed was provided, including a hairdryer, toiletries, water, tea, and coffee. We brought our own towels for the secret lagoon and local pools, while the sky lagoon supplied theirs. The little biscuits and chocolates left each night were adorable. Breakfast was healthy and filling, and I loved the little notes to read over unlimited coffee. Would recommend in a heartbeat.
The owners took such good care of us, and breakfast was excellent. We had a lovely two-night stay at Hotel Phoenix in Reykjavik. It’s a cozy, intimate place with just nine rooms and charming decor. Our room was spacious, bright, very clean, and had a little sitting area by the ensuite. The harbor and Harpa concert hall are an easy walk away, with plenty of restaurants nearby.
The location made getting around easy: downtown was about a 5-10 minute walk, bus stop #13 was just two minutes away for tours and airport shuttles, and shops and restaurants were close by. I felt welcome straight away. The two men running the place were lovely, and answered all my questions. One had a wicked sense of humor, while the other was more laid back. It’s a quirky little place, more B&B than hotel. I booked a single but got a double room, oddly with a single duvet, and was happy with the extra space. The street was fairly busy, though it didn’t bother me, and with the windows shut I heard nothing, even coming from London. The room was spotless, the bathroom compact, and the facilities were adequate for a place where you’re out most of the day. Free local calls were handy. Breakfast was excellent, especially the Skyr. A few house rules felt a bit rigid, like handing in the key when leaving. There was no in-room tea or coffee setup, and no microwave or dishes and cutlery available. Those weren’t big issues for me since I was usually out for up to 14 hours. I’d happily book again for the personal touches and good value by Reykjavik standards.
