Reykjavik Guesthouse

Being able to leave our luggage after checkout was handy. We also went to the public pools before leaving the city, which I’d recommend. The hotel itself was spotless, thoughtfully designed, and in a great location. Our room was comfortable, and the staff were especially kind and attentive. The breakfast basket was a nice touch, with delicious bread from a local bakery. I’d recommend staying here when visiting Reykjavik.

Even though we were just steps from Laugavegur Street, it was exceptionally quiet during our one-night stay in April 2026, probably because the hotel wasn’t busy. We booked a Superior Studio at a very reasonable price and were surprised by its size. Our suite was in the Guðríðarhús (main reception) building, with a separate living room, a well-stocked kitchenette, a large bathroom, and a small balcony. The bedroom felt a little tight with the double beds, but it worked fine for us. Everything was clean and comfortable. It took about 10 minutes to walk from Flybus stop #6, and staff were very good and available 24/7 in the main reception building. Highly recommended.

We found a P3 space by the Viking ship sculpture, and parking was free for the weekend, though finding a spot was a bit tricky. The reception welcome was wonderful after we made our way around the street construction, and from there it was a short walk to our lovely room. It’s close to the Main Street, with great food and fun souvenir shopping, and easy to reach the aesthetically pleasing church, thoughtful garden art museum, and charismatic Rainbow Road on foot. Our standard room had a small kitchenette with a fridge, mini dishwasher, and the basics we needed for meals. The beds and pillows were really comfortable, and we got the rest we needed. The bathroom towel heater was a treat, as were the provided shampoos, soaps, and lotions. Checkout was easy too.

Our room was huge, maybe 45sqm if I remember right, with a full kitchen, dining area, and living space. There’s also self-service laundry in the basement, which came in handy for washing and drying clothes. The location is excellent, right among shops, restaurants, and bus stops. Staff were polite and helpful. Highly recommend.
