The location made our trip especially easy. Þingholt by Center Hotels is right in the heart of Reykjavík, with shops, restaurants, and top sights nearby. Bus Stop #6, useful for guided tours, was a three-minute walk away. We had a car all week and parking nearby was simple, though the hotel itself doesn’t offer free parking. There’s free parking on the residential edges of the center and at a free lot near the church, and Easy Park made it easy to manage. We never had any issues. The room was spotless and had a minibar and small fridge, a nice touch after sightseeing. Staff were friendly and happy to help, breakfast was delicious, and we enjoyed happy hour at the bar, where you ring the bell for service. There’s also a cozy spa and a small gym with exercise bikes and dumbbells. Comfortable, welcoming, and well placed, I’d absolutely recommend it.

A good breakfast and friendly, helpful staff made for a great stay. The rooms are on the small side but decent enough. The hotel is in a busy area, though, so it can get noisy at night, especially when local bars have live music. If peace and quiet are your main priority, you might want to look elsewhere.

We had a great time here and can’t wait to stay again on our next adventure. It’s clean and comfortable, with friendly staff, and a handy central spot for walking around and exploring Reykjavik. Breakfast had lots of tasty options and was easy on the wallet, leaving room to splurge guilt free on other Iclandic goodies, like shark. Happy hour prices were great too!

The staff are the reason I’d come back. I’ve spent 15 years in the travel industry, specializing in luxury travel, and these are among the best hotel staff I’ve encountered. They remembered our names and what we planned to do each day, and made us feel like the only guests. Bora at reception was especially wonderful from check-in to check-out, with warmth, professionalism, and real interest in our stay. Every staff member was attentive and sincere with us and other guests. Their passion for hospitality shows. If only every hotel worked this way. Our deluxe double was much more spacious than expected, with a large bathroom, seating area, mini fridge with items for purchase, iron and ironing board, safe, and both air conditioning and heating. There was plenty of room for bags, coats, and boots, handy in Iceland in winter. The bed was extremely comfortable, and we slept well. The bathroom had a large walk-in shower, bathrobes, a hairdryer, and toiletries you’d expect from a 4 star hotel. The heated floor was especially nice on cold days. Housekeeping came daily and did a great job, replacing towels, restocking the mini fridge, and making the bed beautifully. Coming back to a spotless room was always a highlight. The hotel sits on a quiet side street a few minutes’ walk from the cathedral and main streets. We could walk all over Reykjavik city centre, with bars and restaurants just steps away. Our room didn’t have much of a view, but in November, with limited daylight, it didn’t matter. Even though it faced the road, we heard no traffic or street noise. The modern, inviting lobby has water features, a cosy seating area, and a fire, a nice place to relax with wine after exploring. At check-in, we got vouchers for 50% off a drink and another complimentary drink for our wedding anniversary. We used them at the bar and enjoyed wine and chats with other guests and staff. You can also take drinks to reception, where books and games are available. For a small hotel bar, the range of wines, beers, spirits, and cocktails was impressive. The dining room beside it was where we had breakfast. We also got spa vouchers. Our itinerary was too packed to use them, which was disappointing, but we did look around. It had a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, and treatment rooms, and looked like a great place to unwind after a long day. Thank you for an incredible, memorable stay for our 10 year anniversary. This won’t be our last visit, and we can’t wait to return.

I stayed 13 days in room 305 and felt so at home I didn’t want to leave. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the hotel bar was a nice extra. The sushi across the street was to die for, and the location is hard to beat. With prices in Iceland being what they are, this was the best choice for me. Thanks to all the staff. Phil from Toronto
