Ocean Beach Apartments

The room was very clean and nice, with good amenities, and the price was very good. The property looked a little discouraging from the outside, given the surroundings, but inside it has been refurbished and everything was fine. The location is great, near the area where the lava flow met the sea. Communication with the hosts was only by message: we got one message with the room number and code. It was good that we didn't need anything, since there wasn't more direct contact. At that price, some issues are acceptable.

If you don't mind sleeping in used linen and using soiled towels off the floor, this place may be for you. We arrived after 8:30 pm to find the room a mess: dirty linen on the bed and dirty towels on the bathroom floor. We called the property number on booking.com and the number posted outside the room for help, but no one answered. I hadn't seen any staff, and my email, message, and phone call got no reply. The check-in code arrived after the 4 pm check-in time. We then called booking.com for help, but the property didn't answer them either. A supervisor on the booking.com team, Joven, told us to wait another nine hours for cleaning or take a refund. It was already past 10 pm. We were exhausted, frustrated, and felt helpless. I'd used booking.com for more than 10 years, and when we needed help and support, we ended up without any. Disappointed! We had four bookings with Ocean Breeze Apartment and had trouble checking in on the first two. For the first stay, there was no toilet paper or bath towels. The room hadn't been made up, the bed was a mess, and soiled bath towels were on the bathroom floor. After we complained to booking.com, the property canceled our last booking at the last minute. Luckily, we found a very nice accommodation with lovely service, Bakki Apartment & Hostel. Its unit was clean and tidy, the room was much bigger, and it had most of the kitchen facilities. Keep away from Ocean Breeze Apartment, it will spoil your holiday. The pictures were taken when we checked in at Ocean Breeze Apartmment after 8:30 pm.

The bed was comfortable, and the room was fine. The kitchen was basic but had enough for what we needed. The problems were with the water: the bathroom drain didn't work properly, so showering flooded the whole bathroom. The warm water was even worse, as there wasn't enough of it. In the kitchen, cold-water pressure was almost nonexistent, and the rest tasted like rotten eggs.

The building seemed old, and the night turned into a bad experience. Our booking reservation was wrong, and the room assigned to us had also been assigned to another guest. I tried calling the host, then sent SMS and WhatsApp messages and used the booking chat. I also called all the numbers posted at reception, but got no answer. After two hours without luck, booking finally assigned us a different house. We heard other guests had similar problems. I was glad to spend the night somewhere else.
