The location was peaceful, with a glacier view, and close enough to Höfn. We also liked the spacious kitchen and common area. The room, though, was tiny and seemed poorly thought out. There was nowhere for luggage, clothes, or towels, not even a hand towel hook by the sink. There was a decorative pillow, which felt like a strange priority. For 14 people, two showers and toilets weren’t enough, and we had to wait each time. The showers were neglected, with mold all over the ceiling. In the upstairs toilet, the sink drain didn’t work, so washing our hands brought other people’s dirt, hair, and sand back up.

A well-equipped guesthouse with everything we needed, even for a longer stay. It was very clean and tidy, and we were pleasantly surprised. The location was good too, not too far from town. I’d definitely recommend it to friends.

The quiet countryside setting makes a handy base for exploring southeast Iceland, and a car is useful since it’s just outside town. Höfn is close for restaurants, shops, and its well-known lobster dishes, while Vatnajökull National Park, Stokksnes, and the glaciers are nearby sights to explore. The rural weather can change quickly, so plan your driving with that in mind. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and the clean facilities and peaceful, home-like feel suited us. It’s more self-service than a hotel, without staff around all the time or luxury extras. Wi-Fi can be patchy out here. Bring groceries if you plan to cook. A practical, charming place for travelers who like things simple and quiet.

We paid about 56 euros, a great price, and slept like babies. It felt like a cute youth hostel, with card games in the dining room and funny quotes around the building. There was a kitchen and bathroom, too. We came hoping to see the northern lights, but had no luck that night. It’s a good base for Stokksnes, just 15 minutes away.

The location is a little out of the way, but it could be a great spot for northern lights if you get lucky. Cute hostel, and the showers were great. Having a sink in the bedroom is definitely handy when the bathrooms are shared.
