Hotel Latrabjarg

The drive in is on rough roads, especially if you’re heading to the cliffs, but it’s a good base if puffins are what you came to see. We had a roomy room with one large bed and one small one. The beds weren’t too firm, and everyone was friendly and helpful.

A quaint, comfortable hotel in the West Fjords, with a local owner who has some amazing stories. The meals were perfect. On the road out to the lighthouse, there’s a self service fridge stocked with local handmade wool goods, including lots of little hats, gloves, and mittens for children, plus homemade jams.

We spent two lovely nights here. Karl is cheerful and knows a lot, and the mountain and beach views are breathtaking. The antiques, old photos, and paintings are well preserved, and the hotel was very clean, with comfortable beds and modern bathrooms with excellent showers. The dinners were scrumptious, and breakfast was plentiful, with delicious bread and coffee. It’s remote, but the roads were decent and not bumpy. The puffins on the cliff were every bit as good as hoped.

The staff and service were amazing, and the rooms were cozy and better than in most higher class hotels or guesthouses. It’s also in a great spot for exploring the Red Beach and the bird cliff. Fantastic hotel, absolutely recommended. If you’ve booked here, you’ll enjoy it.
