Termeterna Longevity Spring Resort

The staff were amazing and went out of their way to make our stay feel perfect. The food was top notch, and Saturday lunch by the pool is well worth trying. We especially enjoyed breakfast on the garden terrace. The large garden beside the pool gave us a good shady spot, and the facilities were impeccable. We stayed at Hotel Terme Orvieto during a very hot weekend in June. It's only 15 minutes from Padova, with good connections to bike paths and hiking in the Colline Euganee.

For my boyfriend's 30th birthday, we booked one night, and the day we checked out was when the bigger problems happened. The first day, Carlo, the pool attendant and barman, was fantastic and understood customer service (02/11/24). But the shower drain was blocked, and at 2 am a loud noise from the bathroom radiator woke me up. I switched it off so we could sleep. For his birthday, we'd picked up a cake from a local bakery. We asked Elena at reception if she could keep it in the fridge until our friends arrived. She said yes, then rolled her eyes as she walked away. She asked whether we were having lunch in the restaurant, and we said yes and booked a table for five with her. At the pool, I politely asked the attendant for towels. He hadn't come back after 20 minutes, so I headed toward reception and ran into Elena, who said she'd bring some. Twenty minutes later, there were still no towels. A different receptionist told me that since we'd checked out, each towel cost €5. I paid, and one of them had a cigarette burn. At 13:30, we went to the restaurant, but the staff didn't know we'd reserved a table. They seated us by the entrance even though many tables by the windows, with greenery outside, were empty. The table wasn't set, so the waitress laid out cutlery while we sat down. We weren't offered a menu, just told what was left in the kitchen. A baby at the next table started crying soon after. No bread came, and the tomato pasta I ordered was room temperature. The chicken I ordered afterward was cold, with a dehydrated lemon slice, a piece of salad and a flower-shaped carrot. The cauliflower was over-salted, nothing tasted fresh, and my boyfriend's risotto was bland and not hot. It felt like the food had been microwaved. Staff were hard to find when we wanted more water. A four-star hotel should offer a fine dining experience; I've had better food at a petrol station. The dessert, caramel ice cream with pineapple slices, was enjoyable, but at €150 it wasn't worth it. They gave us an outside table for the aperitif, though it was 14°C. We had our cake, one bottle of prosecco, two small bowls of chips and a small bowl of nuts. The waiter brought two bottles, then pointed out in front of everyone that we hadn't paid for the second. We hadn't ordered it, so we sent the unwanted bottle back to the bar. The plastic chairs had no cushions. Back at the pool, a waiter came over with a card machine and asked for €10 for cutlery. My boyfriend paid. Later, we were told the hotel had made a mistake and forgotten to tell us earlier about a payment for table service. They offered us a free drink at the bar, but when I ordered a Baileys, it was measured out. By then it felt insulting. It was a disappointing stay, and I wouldn't recommend it.

It's a lovely little hotel, and they always make us feel like part of the family.

A lovely family-run hotel with a great pool and spa. Some parts are dated, but the place is clean.
