Borgo Marinaro

The shower flooded the whole room, and the towels had blood stains. This was a horrific, dilapidated, indecent, dirty place. I ran away. There are no words for it. NEVER AGAIN. SHAME!

The location is good for a vacation, just steps from the sea, and we were welcomed well. But the room wasn't clean, and the bathroom was very old and neglected, with a musty smell. The welcome wasn't enough to make up for those other shortcomings.

The terrace was large and the location central. Our room was clean and fresh. The bathroom, which needed updating, was outside the room, but that wasn't a problem for us girls.

After posting my review, my friends told me they had felt awful and stayed quiet out of respect for me. They said the sheets were blood-stained and the bathroom covered in mold, and that they wouldn't have wanted even a homeless person to sleep there. I check every corner of my own place for stray hairs, so hearing that was a real shame. I booked two nights at Borgo Marinaro for friends visiting from Salerno, after my best friend recommended it because he knew the owner from school. I had gone to look around beforehand and found dated furniture and fixtures, though the cleanliness seemed decent. I paid €50 a night in advance, the same price listed online, but breakfast wasn't included. I did wonder why it was called a B&B, but held back because of the connections between us. The owner had apparently told my best friend he'd treated me well. Then my friends, on their way to Catania, had to head home urgently after an unexpected death. I called GianAntonio Proto right away and asked to cancel the second night. He heard me out and said okay. With my best friend and ex-brother-in-law both friends of his, and us being colleagues too, I had hoped for a little consideration, perhaps a credit for a future stay. I also run a real B&B in Catania's historic center. So much for professionalism and elegance. GianAntonio, what goes around comes around. Have a good life. Diletta.
