Ai Baretti 2

I’m not even sure this place really exists. After I’d booked and paid the week before, I got an email from “Renato,” supposedly the owner, while I was at the gate waiting for my flight. He said there was a booking error, the property was closed, and he’d spoken to Expedia. He offered to host me somewhere else in the historic center or have me call Expedia to cancel. Canceling at the last minute was bad, but mistakes happen, and I thought it was a small business. I didn’t want the offered room and found a better place nearby for a similar price. I figured it would be fine as long as I got a refund. I told Expedia about the cancellation. I won’t go through all the messages, but three weeks later, since they couldn’t reach “Renato,” they said B&B Ai baretti had denied a penalty waiver under its policy, so the full penalty would be charged and there’d be no refund. What a bunch of crooks. Luckily my credit card company will cancel the charge. There are plenty of good B&Bs and hotels in the area. Stay away from this one.
