Sicitaly

What a beautiful, peaceful place. Hospitality, comfort, and cleanliness are clearly a priority, and the welcome was wonderful. A heartfelt thank you to Marco, the owner, and to the friendly staff for such a great stay. I’ll definitely be back.

Our biggest positive was the owner, who was kind and helpful. Almost everything else left us disappointed, especially after reading the reviews. There was practically nowhere to park, and the property felt very damp, particularly the partly underground room. When we arrived, the tablecloths were almost wet and stained, and the humidity in the room was excessive. The only window was just a few centimeters across. The bathroom had no window, soap, hair dryer, or shelves, even in the shower. There was no mirror apart from the one in there, and the pillows were unusable, packed with little bits of rubber that made it impossible to sleep. Breakfast was just croissants and vending machine coffee or cappuccino, with no milk or tea. In the morning, irritating noise from upstairs kept us from sleeping. The woman who welcomed us was rushed and unprofessional. Cleanliness was truly poor, well below basic hygiene standards. I’m attaching photos of dust built up on the TV and beside the beds.

The photos gave us the wrong impression. The room in person felt like a damp basement, with a tiny window, and the tablecloths were actually wet. The bathroom had none of the basics, including soap, a toothbrush holder, or a hairdryer. It was dirty too: dust everywhere, especially behind the bedside tables, on the TV, and on the air conditioning, plus dirty floors. Breakfast was discounted and set up outside, so in rainy weather you could end up soaked. The woman who greeted us hurried through showing the room and taking payment, and came across as unprofessional. A terrible stay.

We had a pleasant couple of days in central Acicastello. The place is modern and thoughtfully designed, and the owners were very kind and helpful. Our room had good amenities, including a large smart TV and a modern bathroom. Breakfast was a bit underwhelming, though. See you next time :)
