Dioscuri Bay Palace Hotel

This was the biggest letdown of our tour. The other four hotels had been clean and comfortable, but this one was a very uncomfortable night. It had rained the day before, and the first-floor rooms had flooded. Our floor was still wet when we got in. We told the front desk, and they replied, “you should have seen it before.” That didn’t satisfy us. The air conditioning didn’t work. When we opened the patio door, bugs came in. We were on a group tour, and our guide should have looked into the hotel before booking for 50 people. Why would a big company like Trafalgar put guests in a place like this, a hotel or motel from hell?

I’m eating at the restaurant now, and the food is honestly the worst I’ve had. The service is awful, the staff aren’t polite, and we’ve had to keep asking for things. Beware. The room is a good size. The safe doesn’t work. More to come if anything else happens.

Kids were swimming when the pool attendant started adding chlorine without warning anyone first. Also, check the bill carefully: we were charged for things we hadn’t consumed, listed as a “tourist tax.” When we asked for an invoice, it showed bar and food items we never ordered. We asked the blonde receptionist to cancel the transaction or get the money back from the bar, but were told no refund was possible. It felt like a scam aimed at tourists.

The sea and mountain views from the pool and rooms are excellent, and the bed was definitely comfortable. The room was better than average for a Sicilian hotel. The location is the best part, right on the beach and close to rows of restaurants. There’s a big pool with a bar, but you have to wear a swim cap. There were lots of mosquitoes at and around the hotel. Breakfast was average, with warm eggs, bacon, and the usual Italian breakfast items for guests, not a continental spread. I’m unsure why it’s a four-star hotel when the AC didn’t work for 9 out of 40 people on our tour. If this info was useful, please like my post. Thank you.
