La terrazza di Girgenti

TLDR, Giovanni was the most unprofessional, apathetic, and stressful person I’ve ever dealt with in hospitality. We had a medical emergency on the way and spent the day at the ER. I contacted him right away to explain that we might be late. He left me distressed all day with evasive replies, even calling me a liar about being at the hospital and an hour away. Then, just 15 minutes before his original deadline, he said the door would be shut. We were left homeless, while he kept our money.

The host was friendly, attentive, and very helpful, and the welcome felt warm and family-like. Maia, the delightful dog, came with us to the terrace and greeted us when we left. The panoramic terrace is a lovely place to relax, with views of the city and sea. The location is ideal for exploring Agrigento on foot: a short walk from Via Atenea, the Cathedral, the Pirandello Theater, and Santa Maria dei Greci. There are double and triple rooms, all with private bathrooms and essentials like free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and an LED TV. I’d definitely stay here again.

The owner was kind and helpful, and the room was clean and quiet. Just keep in mind there are a lot of stairs to climb each day, so it may not suit elderly guests.

We had an excellent stay. The made-to-order breakfast was great, and the evening we arrived, she asked what we liked and brought us ricotta-filled cannoli and croissants. My wife has celiac disease, and she tried to find gluten-free food for her too, but could only find a package of gluten-free cookies at the supermarket. Agrigento doesn’t seem very well informed about gluten-free options. The rooms are clean and quiet, with private bathrooms, and there’s a shared breakfast area and a panoramic terrace overlooking southern Agrigento and the sea. The B&B is at the top of town, reached by narrow, winding streets. There’s no parking, so you’ll need luck to find a spot on the street.
