Le Terre D'Abruzzo

The owners are incredibly kind and helpful, and they make a superb breakfast themselves with quality ingredients instead of packaged food. It’s a real country house, with olive trees, happy chickens wandering around, and dogs who make a huge fuss when you arrive. They’re super cuddly! A great place to spend time with friends or a group. 🧡

It’s a shame we couldn’t stay longer and walk in the private woods just a few steps from the house. The young owner is very kind and attentive to every need. The house is spotlessly clean, with a shared kitchen that has everything you need and a large refrigerator. In the evening, the big terrace beside the kitchen is a lovely place to relax and enjoy a starry sky without city lights getting in the way. Our room was spacious, bright, and air-conditioned, with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was spacious too, with a bathtub, toiletries, and towels provided.

Ettore and Simona were excellent hosts, and the place and price were excellent too. My only gripe was the somewhat soft mattress, though that’s a matter of taste. Le Terre D'Abruzzo is a classic rustic farmhouse in a quiet, relaxing green setting, away from the hustle and bustle. It’s not a hotel with all the amenities or a spa. The rooms are spacious, clean, and air-conditioned. There’s no bathroom ensuite, but several bathrooms are spread across the upstairs area, so everyone can use the one by their door. Guests can use a shared space with a small living room that’s good for reading, a spacious, well-stocked kitchen, and a large terrace with a beautiful view. On the property, a long path through the orchard and along the fields takes you past the olive grove to a lovely, very long walk by the stream, shaded by centuries-old oak trees. There’s lots of room and courtesy here. The location is right in the center of Abruzzo, handy for the main outdoor activities. You’re practically always about 20 minutes from things in any direction: Hermitage of Sant'Onofrio, Serramonacesca Abbey, waterfalls, and rock tombs are 20 minutes away, as is Orfento Gorge and Chieti.

A friendly family atmosphere and excellent value. You’re surrounded by nature but still close to amenities, ski slopes, and places to climb. The homemade food is excellent, with garden ingredients grown without chemicals. It’s ideal for animal lovers and anyone who wants to unplug from the city and have a carefree stay. They also keep bees, and there’s a trail through the woods by a stream.
