La Balnearia

It’s quiet, well placed, friendly, and reasonably priced. A simple no-frills hotel, and I’d stay again.

The people are kind, and it’s a nice place.

The location is good and the apartment itself is nice. Beyond that, there was a lot to be unhappy about. There was no cleaning service, and the shower towels were more like sheets, so bring your own. The place was dirty enough that our feet turned black. I saw the “cleaning lady” arrive, but she only seemed to sweep without really cleaning; even the microwave was coated in grease. Breakfast came with dirty plates and stained tablecloths, among other unpleasant surprises. It felt like every request was a nuisance to the staff. We might have done just as well, or better, in an Airbnb. The beach was great, though it isn’t part of the hotel. At the end of September, three deckchairs cost CHF 30 per day, even if you only got there in the afternoon. Wi-Fi worked only in the entrance hall. The apartment showed two bars of signal at best, and none in some spots.

The location right by the sea was the one real plus, and the waiters were quite friendly. The food was excellent, and the canteen was definitely better. But the rooms were extremely dirty, with no windows or dust. The common areas and elevator were also left uncleaned, and the service was poor. We were there with our four-month-old son, and I wouldn’t go back. It’s expensive for what you get. It should be rated one star, not three. One star doesn’t even feel like enough, and I wouldn’t recommend it when there are plenty of other places to choose from.
