La Casa Di Cocca

Casa di Cocca gets a full 4 stars for being very central, but there's no parking at the property. The nearest parking we found was at least 300 meters away. We paid an extremely high price, similar to several nearby hotels, for an apartment we used for one night while passing through Alba on a Piedmont tour. Getting in meant going through an automatic gate into the courtyard of a historic building, with no front door or reception. The elevator felt more like a freight lift and moved at an unnerving speed. The kitchen fixtures and furniture were old, and we didn't even want to touch them. There was a mezzanine with a hard-to-reach mattress that we didn't try to access because of the height, so it was useless to us. There's no air conditioning, and the thermostat in the sleeping area was missing its cover, with wiring exposed (!). The sofa is NOT a bed. The bathroom had no basic toiletries, like shampoo or shower gel, although the shower itself was more than acceptable. The towels were brought later, and they smelled nauseatingly of dog hair. Avoid it if you're more than three people and expect at least a 2-star hotel standard.
