The apartment itself is nicely decorated and right in the heart of Lecce’s old town, with three rooms on the second floor and no elevator. But the service was a real letdown, especially after the strong recommendations from friends and online reviews that led us to book through Agoda. Before we arrived, the hosts sent no message, email, or entry instructions, and there were no keys or codes provided. We had to ask neighbors for help; they tried calling the host but got no answer. We also tried Instagram, SMS, and Facebook, with no response. The host finally emailed in the late afternoon, after we’d already struggled to get in. We had no internet for the entire stay. We asked her to help fix it, but nothing was done. We’d also booked a room with breakfast. The website photos showed an elegant, generous spread, but instead the host sent us to a nearby café and said she’d cover the cost. For three mornings we got just a basic coffee and cornetto, far from what was pictured. On the fourth day, she said she’d come serve breakfast herself, but someone entered quietly in the morning, left a receipt for €3.20, and went away. We never met that person or the host during our stay. Payment was meant to be made at the property, according to the reservation terms, not through Agoda. On the third day, the host said she’d come collect it, but never showed up. Instead, she asked us to make an international bank transfer and cover all the fees. We eventually left the full amount in cash inside the apartment. She gave us a small discount of about €30 for the whole stay, perhaps because the service hadn’t met expectations.
