La Tarantola

I travel for work as a tour bus driver and spend at least half the year in hotels, but I’ve never been treated with this kind of rudeness. It felt like guests were being held to two different standards. When another room was occupied, breakfast included ham and bread rolls; with me as the only guest, those were replaced by dry packaged toast and little single serve jams. The other guests were also given rice packets when they left, which makes sense since the B&B is connected to a rice producer. The room itself was okay, but the owner was very unfriendly.

Private parking was handy, and the host was really friendly. The rooms were clean, breakfast was good, and B&B La Tarantola had a warm, welcoming feel. I’d recommend it.

The price is low, but the service matched it. The rooms are new and attractive, yet the main road outside makes proper rest impossible. The windows might as well not be there for all the noise they let through. Lighting is dim, and it gets tiresome after a while. Breakfast was very limited: sweets only, with no bread, rolls, cheese, or cold cuts. On day one there was a croissant, but after that there was nothing. During one week I found only reheated toast and jam. No eggs, and nobody from the staff was around at breakfast. At payment, the owner wouldn’t give me a receipt in the name of B&B Tarantola. The invoice you mentioned was never issued. If you made it without telling me, you have my address, so please send it to me, and I’d give you a star for that. Guests can decide for themselves whether the rest of my account is true. I also don’t see why arriving five minutes early once, because I needed to change rooms, should be an issue. That has never been a problem at any other hotel. Maybe you’re just trying to cut costs? I asked for some flexibility with booking dates, which is normal when you stay somewhere for a long time and have been a repeat customer for years. Clearly, you’re not in the business and still have a lot to learn.

The best part was breakfast: the same sweet buffet each morning, with hot drinks. I brought my own cold cuts to go with it. The staff were lovely, and the rooms were clean and tidied every day. It’s a nice place, even if the hotel itself is a bit of an afterthought. I’d definitely recommend it.
