I Trulli Di Ottavio

SCAM AND A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! DO NOT COME HERE. We booked a 60 m2 trullo, but after 5.45 hours of driving in bad weather on 12/23/2025, the owner handed us keys to a tiny 20 m2 trullo with no dishes and two water leaks. He wanted 400 euros!!!!! Stay away, go somewhere else... SCAM!!!!!!

After we arrived in Alberobello, I left the car in the secure public parking lot. Our trullo was just a two-minute walk away through the trulli, and it was charming and welcoming. I’d found Ottavio's trulli while looking for somewhere to spend the night, and one phone call was enough to show me how kind and helpful he was. We made the arrangements straight away. Before we left, Ottavio explained what we could do and suggested Casa Nova restaurant for dinner. We ate really well there. I’ll be back.

The trullo itself is beautiful, but be aware that the hot water is rationed. We stayed in April and paid the deposit by bank transfer. When we arrived, the owners asked for the remaining balance in cash. Asking for an invoice led to a lot of trouble over taxes and the stated sale price. I asked again on the last day, and they promised to send it later, but as of May 22, 2023, it still hadn’t arrived despite several reminders. They also wanted the tourist tax, though it was unclear who was supposed to pay it. Parking was included in the booking and was nearly its main attraction, but on arrival they caused so many problems that it felt like they were going back on their word.

The only good thing was the very central location. Our assigned trullo looked nothing like the ones on the website, and it was dirty, dusty, and full of cobwebs. We expected at least a discount, but didn’t receive one. A terrible experience.
