I stayed at the Reine des Violettes and really loved my room. The gardens are beautiful and peaceful, and the place is truly dog-friendly. You can also do a balsamic vinegar tasting, and breakfast is superb.

Renting a car would give you more freedom to explore the surrounding area, if you can. We spent two nights at Il Borgo during our Italian vacation, resting and recharging, and it was just what we needed. The gardens were wonderfully relaxing for an afternoon of lounging and occasional dips in the pool. The owners and staff went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant stay. Our rooms were clean and beautifully furnished, and breakfast was delicious. Learning about real balsamic vinegar was memorable. It really opened our eyes to how different it is from the bottles sold on shelves in the US.
You’ll probably need a car to get here and explore the area, and there’s plenty of parking on site. We had a wonderful stay at il borgo. The gardens, rooms, and atmosphere are beautiful, and the staff are so warm and friendly. Their resident dog Jackie deserves a special mention!
The food was incredible, and the small property is a real jewel, run by a dedicated and very kind crew. The rooms are full of character, spotless, and very comfortable. Spectacular place, definitely recommended!
The place is charming and has a lot of potential, but the hospitality and basic amenities were seriously lacking. A few things to know before booking: you can’t eat or drink in your room, and ours wasn’t very clean, with lots of spiderwebs and bugs. It also seemed poorly maintained. The only toiletries were hand wash and shampoo, and towels for the pool cost extra. The villa is shared. The grandmother, who I believe lives on the ground floor, locks the door at 8pm, and guests aren’t allowed to walk in the gardens behind the villa. The “Italian” garden wasn’t well maintained either. Breakfast runs from 8:30-9:30. Anything other than scrambled eggs costs an extra 5 euros, including sunny side up or boiled eggs. Check-out is 10:30am, not the standard 11am. They called us twice to confirm our arrival time. You have to arrive before 7pm, or there’s a 50 euro late check-in fee. The price doesn’t match the service or amenities.
