Residence Garden

The artistic marine style is cool, and the place is very clean. The pool is nice, though small, and there's a pleasant outdoor area for breakfast. The bar staff and cleaning staff were kind, while the receptionists were just fine and didn't always give correct information, so be careful. The bathroom space isn't laid out very well, and the balcony doesn't face the sea. Definitely not a four-star stay.

Huge, super-comfortable bed with two massive pillows, and the room itself was large and very clean. The balcony was large too. There was amazing artwork everywhere. It's right across the street from the beach, with lots of restaurants nearby and the train station about a ten-minute walk away.

The garden's in a strategic spot, close to the national road and about 200 m from the "brach". I put "beach" in brackets because it's so tiny that you can really only say you're on the beach if you're sitting in the last row. Cars and trucks make noise all night, which is the main problem. If you're booking somewhere to rest, forget it. If you have a car, tell the reservation well in advance, or you'll end up driving around the city for ages looking for parking.

The room and furniture felt outdated, there was a big mold spot on the bathroom ceiling, and the air conditioning wasn't really helping in the scorching heat. Breakfast was disappointing too. I'd never seen individually plastic-wrapped cheese slices like the kind for a cheeseburger at a European hotel before, whether a B&B or four-star. The hotel itself, service, room, and breakfast were all just OK. My husband and I stayed at two other hotels during our trip through northern Italy, one four-star and one three-star, and both were great. They had wonderful staff, better breakfasts, and were far ahead in service, friendliness, facilities, and cleanliness. So I really question this hotel's four-star rating. It seems unfair when places that try much harder end up with the same or a lower rating.
