A truly awful experience. On Friday night around 9, we nearly got lost trying to find the hotel. We’d found it on Booking.com and called to ask about it. That’s when we learned the room was “underground,” below ground level. We accepted that. The price on Booking.com kept changing, so we booked by phone instead, and were promised a 15% discount. When we arrived, Mr. Alemanno greeted us with xenophobic remarks. Then he quoted a price that wasn’t even 10% off. He got resentful when we objected, so we asked to see the room before accepting the higher price. At that price, we could have found somewhere else if we’d booked earlier. Instead, he refused to give us the room and sent us away. It turned out to be lucky in the end: we found a place in Gallipoli at B&B Sottosopra, whose owner was incredibly helpful. I’d avoid that hovel in the middle of nowhere. Better to pitch a tent somewhere than risk a price hike or being kicked out!

I really don’t recommend this place. The owner was rude and dishonest. On the phone before booking, he quoted us a price and said there’d be discounts, or we could book through Booking.com. When we got there, he raised the price we’d agreed on. We were shocked and asked if we could at least see the room, and he nearly threw us out, saying, “I’m the owner, and I won’t give you the room anymore.” He also made racist and unkind remarks, even though it was obvious from a mile away that I’m not exactly Italian. You don’t deserve anyone’s stay.

The owners are so kind and welcoming, and the place is peaceful, with plenty of parking and lots of quiet. It’s just 5 minutes from Gallipoli and 8 minutes from some spectacular beaches. I had an incredible stay and will come back as soon as I return 😎

Definitely wouldn’t recommend it. The staff were unfriendly, and the rooms were filthy hovels. The sheets and mattress were stomach-churning, and it doesn’t deserve even one star. It feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by bugs.

From the recent reviews, it sounds like nothing’s changed. There were grasshoppers, crickets, and spiders in my room back then, and now I’m reading that the owners even kick people out 🤣🤣🤣. I’d thought you might have fixed the place up, but apparently not. I’ll look somewhere else so I don’t get sick.
